Item Description

A classic old time near full cabinet sized attractive display specimen featuring several fine quality, velvety, forest green colored pseudomorphs of Malachite have replaced "sword"-shaped crystals of preexisting Azurite along with smaller pseudomorphs plus botryoidal mammillary aggregates of mint green Malachite on oxidized host rock matrix. The largest pseudomorph measures 2.1 cm and is actually doubly-terminated, which is pretty rare for this material. I actually found a few more doubly-terminated pseudomorphs on the piece, which makes it even more enticing. VERY little damage and the piece is highly displayable - better than the photos indicate. This is fantastic old time material from the Sacramento Pit / Sacramento Mine. The original Sacramento Shaft started in 1904 and produced high grade ore until 1931. The Sacramento Pit started in 1917 and both localities were exhumed by the famous large Lavender Pit in 1950. Specimens from either Sacramento locality are rare compared to other famous Bisbee mines. This piece is a great example of this old, scarcely available material, and would make a great addition to an Arizona suite, a pseudomorph collection, or a collection of copper minerals. Valued at $1,500 in the inventory.
