Item Description

This locality is famous for its fantastic and unique Copper pseudomorphs after Aragonite but it's very rare to find un-pseudomorphed, crystalline native Copper from Corocoro. This piece is a tremendous, large, impressive, aesthetic, "fan" or "leaf" of Copper from this famous locale. This piece is one of the largest examples of Copper I've ever seen from this mine and the interesting and eye-catching form is really special. If you look closely, you can see there is a bit of a crystalline quality to the piece, but it has a really unique organic form as well. I can compare it to plant life or something aquatic like coral, and somebody told me that these specimens kind of resemble gink leaves. This is an impressive, big, one-of-a-kind specimen due to it's interesting shape, and the fact that it's from one of the most well-known Bolivian localities makes it all the more impressive. It should be noted that I was told that Corocoro was purchased by a Korean mining company, with the intent of smelting all of the Copper, so specimens may never be found again. If you collect Copper, native elements or Bolivian minerals, don't miss out on this one, as I'm sure you don't have a piece like this in your collection. Valued at $2,200.
