Cassiterite as a species is typically not what comes to mind when one thinks of pegmatites. The Linopolis area in Brazil has produced some wonderful pegmatite Cassiterites over the years, and this piece certainly falls into that category. It features a tightly intergrown - yet distinct - sharp, very lustrous, jet-black, interpenetrant cyclic twin measuring 2.1 cm on beautiful bladed white Albite. The piece is damage free, and displays beautifully on its own without the aid of a base. A lovely display specimen of this well known material. It's hard to find showy matrix specimens of pegmatitic Cassiterite. From the collection of Richard A. Kosnar, world renowned mineral dealer & collector, and the namesake for the species Kosnarite.
