Item Description

Fine combination piece from the famous Mt. Xuebaoding in China. The large, 3.8 cm on edge Scheelite octahedron is mostly complete, and it has several terminations that are gemmy. Trailing from the lower, super-gemmy termination is a 'tail' of intergrown Scheelite octahedrons. THIS IS A VERY RARE COMBINATION - they almost never occur in direct contact with one another, although sometimes you see the species together on the same matrix. It's a fascinating growth pattern that I have not seen quite like this before. Intergrown with the large Scheelite is an equally large, tabular Goshenite crystal that is mostly gemmy and highly lustrous. The complex edges of this Beryl are sharp and attractive, and the combination itself is aesthetic. Much better in person. As a bonus, the Scheelite has white fluorescence. Older finds, from the 1990s or early 2000's probably. Valued $2000-2500
