Item Description

Mibladen Vanadinites are truly the finest examples of the species known. This material has been coming out for a few decades, but they are still remarkable to see as nothing can rival their superior color and quality. Fine specimens are still highly valued on the market today, and it's easy to see why. This is a wonderful and unusual specimen of this classic material as it's a rather large complete group of Vanadinite off matrix. One typically does not see such a large crystallized compound groups of Vanadinites like this, as they are typically only seen in single tabular hexagonal blades which rarely reach over 2 cm in size. This is not your typical specimen from Mibladen as it's not only large, but it's nearly a complete "floater" as it's nearly crystallized all the way around on both sides! I can see one small contact / point of attachment where it must have been attached to the pocket wall, but otherwise it's in superb condition. The glistening luster combined with the intense red hue and sharpness of the crystals are certainly significant, but my favorite aspect is the crystallization as the piece looks like an exotic flower with beautiful hexagonal growth. Some of the crystals are complete euhedral prisms, while other show gentle skeletal / "hoppered" faces for a great contrast. If you collect Vanadinites (or minerals of the Apatite Group), Moroccan minerals or just really attractive examples of classic material, don't pass this one up. It was DIFFICULT to photograph, and we really tried to convey the quality, but the piece really looks better in person. Valued in the inventory at $4,500 for size, quality and uniqueness for the material.
