Item Description

These are some of the finest examples of crystallized Tsavorite Garnet from any locality in the world. These crystals come from the same locality as the world famous Tanzanite crystals. Tsavorite is well-known for Kenya in the form of gem rough, but euhedral crystals are quite rare in nature. This piece is a sizeable example of this chromium-bearing variety of Grossular featuring broad, smooth, lustrous well-formed dodecahedral faces (and a few minor modifying trapezohedral faces) with that glowing rich green internal color. The piece is undamaged on the front / display side, but is it not complete on the back where it was removed from the schist of the pocket wall. Superb quality for Tsavorite and Garnet in general. From the worldwide thumbnail / miniature collection of Irv Brown. Valued at $950.
