Item Description

This is a sculptural and eye-catching display specimen of Hausmannite featuring many very sharp, rather lustrous, well-formed, jet black, pseudo-octahedrons (they're actually bipyramdial tetragonal prism) measuring up to 5 mm associated with a bit of reddish Andradite Garnet on a thin layer of matrix. The pieces from the world famous Wessels Mine are some of the finest specimens of Hausmannite known, and they seem to be in short supply these days. If you like black rocks, this is a very attractive specimen and fine quality regardless of the color. From the worldwide thumbnail / miniature collection of Irv Brown. Valued at $400.
