Item Description

A beautiful and classic specimen of the seldom seen Smoky / Milky Quartz specimens from the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. This piece features a prismatic, hexagonal crystal of richly colored (nearly Morion) Smoky Quartz but it has a distinct overgrowth of notably milky white Quartz on the surface. The Quartz is intergrown with minor cream colored Microcline and silvery Muscovite / Zinnwaldite Mica, but the Quartz is the star here. HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH and better in person. If you collect worldwide Quartz specimens, don't miss out on this rarely seen oddity from this remote area in Idaho. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
