Item Description

Berg Aukus is world-renowned for its extraordinary Descloizite specimens. These pieces have set the standard of excellence for this zinc analogue of Mottramite. It is because of Berg Aukus that we know how good Descloizite crystals can actually get. This piece is filled with many tabular, sharp, lustrous, silvery brown color, layered crystals on a somewhat cavernous matrix. The piece is very aesthetic and virtually damage free as far as I can see with the naked eye. The main group of crystals measures 2.2 cm long. Valued at $1200. From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #711). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
