Item Description

When it comes to Azurite, most people think of Tsumeb when it comes to best specimens. The wide variety of habits combined with the amazingly high quality of the crystals will always keep Azurite among the top favorites from this prolific locale. Arguably the world's finest quality crystals of the species came from Tsumeb. These specimens are a favorite not only among Tsumeb enthusiasts, but anybody who collects secondary ore minerals, copper minerals, and even general worldwide collectors. This is a fantastic and aesthetic display specimen of Tsumeb Azurite. The piece is highlighted by a 2.2 cm, impressive, very sharp, highly lustrous / "wet" looking, "sword"-shaped monoclinic, prismatic crystal with superb midnight blue color that when backlit reveals slight electric blue highlights. The crystal is flaring off of the matrix like a rocket ship, and the contrasting associated yellow-green Arsentsumebsite and forest green Malachite make for a great touch. There are also many small, sparkling midnight blue Azurites on the piece as well, that look beautiful up close. I don't have to tell you that the value of Tsumeb specimens seems to rise daily, and fine quality specimens are now highly sought after, and prized more than ever by dealers and collectors alike. Priced at $2,000 in the inventory. From the collection of Carl Acosta.
