Item Description

Easily some of the most classic and recognizable Amethyst specimens around are those from this locality. The best of these specimens are exemplary and highly sought after by collectors. This piece is a lovely three-dimensional display piece featuring fine quality, sharp, lustrous purple Amethyst crystal measuring up to 3.3 cm aesthetically perched on matrix. The larger crystal shows a bit of a scepter habit, which is a classic form from this locality. This material was labeled as coming from a place called Las Vigas for years, but the correct name is Piedra Parada. No damage and very showy. Classic and beautiful material from Mexico. From the collection of legendary mineral collector, Jack Halpern of San Francisco, California (Specimen #3135). Jack was also a founding member of the Golden State Lily Society, and a former president of both the San Francisco Orchid Society and the San Francisco Rose Society.
