Item Description

A beautiful thumbnail specimen of "Alpine-Type" Vesuvianite from a metamorphic deposit in Pakistan. The specimen is simply labeled as coming from Pakistan, and it doesn't resemble the material from Hashupa or Alchuri, so it's hard to say exactly where it's from. A pair of fine quality, very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, golden-green colored crystals measuring up to 1.6 cm sit on a thin layer of white Calcite matrix. The crystals are very well-formed and the piece looks beautiful from a few angles. No real damage that I can see. A very attractive thumbnail for anybody who collects minerals of Pakistan, gem crystals or metamorphic species. The specimen comes from the collection of the well-known mineral collector and rancher Rukin Jelks (1927-2014).
