Item Description

A VERY rarely seen specimen of unusually stalactitic Wavellite from the lesser known General Trimble's Mine. It's possibly that there may be more than one species present as the soft golden yellow radial Wavellite is contacted in areas revealing a dark (nearly black) "core", so this could be Wavellite coating another mineral. If you collect phosphates, US minerals or species from Pennsylvania, don't miss out on in this hard to find piece from this old Dana locality! The piece comes with an old label from noted New York mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957.
