Item Description

A classic, old-time, hard to find specimen of Calcite from the famous old Rist Mine in North Carolina. This mine is best known for its beautiful green Emeralds and Hiddenites, and good matrix display specimens of Calcite are actually quite rare. This specimen hosts sharp, well-formed, lustrous, translucent, off-white colored rhombohedra of Calcite measuring up to 2.3 cm associated with semi-metallic, lustrous, sharp bronze colored bladed Muscovite and minor prismatic Rutile on matrix. A great combination specimen for anybody who collects minerals of North Carolina, or US minerals. Valued at $750. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1657). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
