Item Description

Mount Saint-Hilaire is one of the world's most significant localities, and produces many "best in the world" specimens of a lot of minerals. This piece features a gorgeous GEMMY, sharp, lustrous, pseudohexagonal crystal of nearly colorless Catapleiite. No damage, save the base where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Excellent quality! A classic from this historic locality. It is now difficult to obtain specimens from this locality as collecting has been limited / reduced in recent years, so if you collect minerals from this world famous prolific locality, don't miss out on this attractive thumbnail. From the collection of renowned mineral dealer, Charles Locke Key. Charlie is arguably the most sucessful dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
