Item Description

This is an aesthetic and eye-catching Acanthite specimen from Guanajuato, featuring well-formed, "hoppered" pseudo-cubic crystals in a stacked formation, creating a "tree"-shaped group with notable visual appeal. It has a LOT of character for the material, as it's very three-dimensional and showy, and is virtually undamaged to boot. The largest individual crystal measures 5 mm. PLEASE NOTE: This piece is labeled as a pseudomorph after Argentite, and while there are some people that label these specimens (and Acanthite in general) as being pseudomorphs after Argentite, but they are technically paramorphs as Acanthite will actually transform into Argentite in an environment where the temperature reaches above 177 degrees Celsius, but they are not pseudomorphs. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
