Item Description

A really cool old time specimen from the Vizze Pass in Italy featuring sharp, lustrous, fine quality, prismatic, dark green colored crystals of Actinolite measuring up to 3.7 cm long sitting in talc matrix. Most of the crystals are contacted, but the prism faces are in good shape. It's not common to find fully terminated crystals on matrix from this locality, so this is a good specimen of this rare material from the Alps. A very attractive piece for an amphibole specimen, and a worthwhile pickup for anybody who likes European minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2152). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive old-timer from this lesser known locale.
