Item Description

Dozens of soft fibrous "needles" of Actinolite (var: "Amianth") of a soft sage-green hue cover nearly every side of this unusual cabinet display specimen from Centreville, Virginia. The label states that it's from the Fairfax Quarry, but I can't find a listing for this locality. The only entry I can find for Actinolite from this area is the "Highway 50 Intersection", which could be the origin of this specimen. A really odd and hard to find specimen from this obscure Virginia locality. An early entry in the Kay Robertson Collection - (#623). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
