Item Description

The famous Ojuela Mine in Mapimi, Mexico is one of the great localities in the world for secondary ore minerals. The Adamites from this mine are some of the finest examples of the species you'll find. Typically the Adamites from Ojuela are found on reddish-brown Limonite matrix, but this one is rare and different as the sharp, light yellow, chisel-shaped crystals are associated with a dark grey mineral (likely either Chalcophanite or Goethite). The contrast of the two species together is striking, as the Adamites (which measure up to about 7 mm) really stand out. When you look at the Adamites up close, you can see the perfect crystal morphology, with high luster and sharp, well-formed faces. A very attractive and certainly different/unusual example of this classic material from this historic mine.
This specimen is from the worldwide collection of Gerry Morvell.
