Item Description

The rare pink/purple Adamite crystals from the famed Ojuela Mine were once thought to be cobalt-bearing but are now known to be manganese-bearing. Very few good pieces came out relatively speaking when compared to the more commonly seen yellow and green varieties from this mine. Several flats of good material with larger crystals in 1982 were found, and then lesser finds over the years since. I can't say for certain if this piece was found during the mining operations in 1982, but it does features beautiful sharp, lustrous, translucent crystals with purplish-pink coloring, off-set by white hues in areas. The largest crystal measures 4 mm long, and they are sitting on typical oxidized matrix. Very good quality, no major damage and so showy! True classics from the Ojuela Mine, which inarguably has produced the finest Adamite specimens in the world pound for pound. Valued $900.
