Item Description

This mine is very well known for it's Adamite specimens, but it is the highly sought after Manganoan variety of Adamite found here that makes it such a significant locality. This piece features a predominant, very sharp, HIGHLY lustrous, translucent crystal of Adamite with strong purple hue and white-colored edges sitting on Limonite matrix. The main crystal is undamaged and measures 1.0 cm. There are a few secondary Adamites to be seen, but the main crystal is the star here. To my understanding, there was only one significant find of this material at Ojuela, and they are by far the most prized of all Adamite varieties found here. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9182). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
