Item Description

One of the most classic localities for Adamite in the world is the Ojuela mine in Mexico. This material is some of the most beautiful and classic material for the species. This particular specimen features lustrous, yellow and purple (manganoan) crystals of Adamite on Limonite matrix. This is a good full miniature size specimen with attractive crystals for the material. The largest group crystal 1.1 cm across. Several crystals are undamaged, but there are some contacts around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket. This material is no longer being mined and will go down as some of the finest quality and color Adamite in history. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9254). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
