Item Description

Chalcophanite is a very rare zinc manganese oxide, and some of the best examples are those found at the famous Ojuela Mine. This piece hosts sharp, lustrous, soft golden colored crystals of Adamite measuring up to 1.0 cm sitting atop silvery-grey colored botryoidal Chalcophanite. The piece was only labeled as Chalcophanite originally, but I'm sure the Adamite was a simple oversight. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11017). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
