Item Description

This attractive miniature specimen features sharp, lustrous, glassy purple colored Adamite (var: Manganoan) crystals with sharp, chisel terminations nicely set "bubbly" grey-black Goethite and gossan matrix. This piece is from the one-time find in 1981 and is highly representative for this very desirable variety (erroneously once thought to be cobaltoan). The crystals measure up to 5 mm long, and look beautiful up close. They are are entirely purple in color, as you can see a hint of a greenish-yellow hue in there with some backlighting. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2453). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecord.com/pdfs/Kay%20Robertson%20Collection.pdf ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
