Item Description

A beautiful Adamite / Calcite association specimen from the historic Ojuela mine in Mexico. You could label this piece as a Calcite first instead of an Adamite. The piece is in great condition overall, and features very eye-catching, semi-lustrous, translucent, scalenohedra of Calcite (with minor iron inclusions) flaring off of rather lustrous, robust, golden-yellow Adamite crystals measuring up to 1.0 cm on gossan matrix. This mine is well known for its amazingly intense colors of Adamite, and this thumbnail is certainly a great example of this classic material. A beautiful display specimen from one of the most well known localities in Mexico. Valued at $400. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
