Item Description

The world's largest and finest Aegirine crystals are found at Mount Malosa. This locality is almost certainly the most well-known mineral producing spot anywhere in Malawi and is well-known for its REE pegmatite minerals. This particular specimen features a fine, sharp, highly lustrous, deep greenish-black prismatic crystal of Aegirine aesthetically flaring off a "fan"-shaped group of bladed off-white to golden colored crystals of Eudidymite creating a very showy and three-dimensional specimens. Aegirine is a Pyroxene species, typically found in dull examples, but you would be hard pressed to find sharper or more lustrous crystals than those from Mount Malosa. From the inventory of Herb Obodda (please note that the specimen is repaired according to the label), with an old price tag of $1500 from 10 years ago.
