Item Description

A beautiful thumbnail specimen of crystallized Albite (var: Oligoclase) from Mexico. The specimen is simply labeled as coming from Chihuahua, Mexico and it doesn't resemble anything I've seen previously, so it's hard to say exactly where it's from. A few fine quality, sharp, lustrous, gemmy / translucent, nearly colorless crystals measuring up to 1.6 cm are included with a green mineral (possibly Clinochlore?) to create a lovely two-tone effect. The piece actually shows a bit of iridescent "adularescence" with a Moonstone-esque appearance on certain faces when rotated in the light. The crystals are very well-formed and the piece looks beautiful from a few angles. No real damage that I can see. A very attractive thumbnail for anybody who collects minerals of Mexico or Feldspar species. The specimen comes from the collection of the well-known mineral collector and rancher Rukin Jelks (1927-2014). You can read his bio at the following link: https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=1767. There is also a label from the collection of show promoter Marty Zinn.
