Item Description

An old-time, showy, excellent and sculptural, two-sided miniature slab of Algodonite and Quartz from the well-known long-extinct Mohawk Mine of Michigan's historic Copper Country. Algodonite is a rare metalloid alloy of Copper and Arsenic. Metallic luster, coppery/brassy algodonite is attractively intermixed with striking, starkly contrasting, starburst-like clusters of milky quartz. From the broad and important collections of Dick Hauck, founder and owner of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in New Jersey. Comes with a John Albanese label, a prominent New Jersey dealer in the 1940s through 1960s. Slabs of this quality are very seldom on the market.
