Item Description

Allargentum is a metalloid alloy of silver and antimony. It is rare worldwide. The finest examples come from the famous silver mines at Cobalt, the historic old mines in Germany and from recent finds in Morocco. This is a solid narrow ore vein of matte-gray and lustrous, bronzey, scalloped allargentum. Not pretty to look at, but this is a very rich and highly representative example of the species and locale formerly in the John Barlow Collection, who assembled a world-class collection before he passed away in 2004. 255 grams mass.
