"Alligator" Smoky Quartz (Zerfass Coll.)

An impressive and sculptural large two-sided smoky quartz plate from recent finds in Minas Gerais. These fantastic looking terminated smoky quartz crystals have the striking "alligator" look, where the quartz crystals look like the large plates in an alligator's hide! The very glassy, transparent smoky quartz crystals have variable smoky color and some crystals have distinctive darker edges and are doubly terminated. The dramatic large doubly terminated crystal on the right side is 12.2 cm long. Overall, this excellent large plate is in great shape. The display face is essentially pristine. The periphery wear on the left side is certainly only a modest detraction. The dramatic stepped-growth back is undamaged, just contacted. Stunning smoky quartz from the Paul Zerfass Collection # 1159.
