Item Description

A sharp, complete, equant crystal of almandine is aesthetically perched on a silvery matrix of mica schist. The garnet exhibits classic dodecahedral form along with a deep reddish-brown color. Strong lights reveals gemmy, translucent faces and corners and brick-red color. This is an excellent piece with no "traditional" polishing done on the faces as is so often the case with this old material Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
