Almandine Garnet in Schist (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

One of the true classics of the Austrian Tyrol are the stunning deep red Almandine Garnets in schist from the Gurgler Valley in the larger Otztal (Otz Valley). A pair of sharp, well-formed beautiful brick red colored dodecahedral Almandines are centered in the silvery layered schist matrix. The largest Garnet measures 1.9 cm across. Good condition and classic material from this famous Alpine occurence. Valued at $800 Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#928).
