River Valley almandine garnets of this quality are very uncommon. This is an impressive, lustrous textbook dodecahedron with beautiful areas of cherry-red translucence, accented with a few patches starkly contrastng green chlorite. The striking stepped-growth faces really set the crystal off. A fine and pristine crystal from an obscure Ontario locale with a myriad of display possibilities. A choice old specimen which he probably self-collected, from the Dr. Art Soregaroli Collection.
