Item Description

Incredibly well-formed, sharp, gemmy, colorless, blocky trigonal crystals of this uncommon potassium aluminum sulfate from an undisclosed locality in the Marysvale District. This is certainly the FINEST crystallized example of the species that I've seen from Utah, and possibly the best Alunite I've EVER had to offer from ANY locality, as not only are the crystals LARGE and DISTINCT but there are many of them present. The largest Alunite measures 1.6 cm, and most of them are in very good condition. If you collect minerals of the United States or just appreciate finely crystallized examples of uncommon minerals, this is a great example of a species that is often found in less than desirable looking specimens. Valued at $1750 for the size and quality of the crystals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#308). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
