Item Description

A cool reference crystal of Microcline (var: "Amazonite") which dates back about 70 years ago. The piece is complete all the way around with good blocky form and a light to medium blue-green color. The crystal was collected at the top of the famous Colorado mountain, Pike's Peak by Rich Kosnar's collecting partner and friend, Clarence Coil in the 1940s, and came to reside in Rich Kosnar's collection in the late 1970s. There are several spots on Pike's Peak where Amazonite crystals have been found, but I have seen very few from the TOP of the mountain like this one.
