Item Description

This is a great display specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen features a pair of well-formed, beautiful rich blue-green color Amazonite crystals associated with a sharp, lustrous, gemmy Smoky Quartz crystal aesthetically jutting out of the side of the specimen. Lastly, and most importantly, a somewhat flattened group of reddish-brown botryoidal Hematite is flaring from the top of the specimen. The piece was part of Rich Kosnar's Colorado collection and his collection number (#84) is glued to the base of the piece. Keep in mind that the best of these specimens (especially with top color) sell for big money these days, and considering that fewer and fewer top quality specimens are found each year, this one would make a great addition to any collection. Keep in mind that this specimen was collected over 30 years ago (August 1976), when Richard Kosnar found some of the finest color Amazonite from Colorado extant. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic".
