Item Description
Amber is really popular with collectors because some pieces feature superb insect "fossils" frozen within. This is a wonderful thumbnail sized piece of this well-known material featuring a very well-preserved caterpillar fossil (the first of its kind that we've seen!) that is clearly visible through the transparent Amber host material. This kind of Amber was made famous in films like Jurassic Park, and whether you consider this to be a fossil or a mineral specimen, you can't deny that it's just plain cool. The piece comes from the collection of Art Soregaroli, and the label says it's from the Kaliningrad Region, Baltic Sea, Russia.
