Amber with MULTIPLE insect inclusions and a SPIDER

An appealing example of this well-known classic material from the Dominican Republic. Amber has been known for thousands of years, and used as ornaments and jewelry by people around the world. With that said, actual specimens (especially those with insect inclusions) have been glorified and in the public consciousness for only the last 30 years or so thanks to the Jurassic Park film franchise. This specimen is from the classic Sabana locality in the Dominican Republic and features a handful of very well-preserved flying insects completely frozen inside. I can see what appears to be some kind of Diptera, gnat and/or mosquito species, but the best part is that there is clearly a SPIDER inside, which is one of the more rare and desirable inclusions for this material. It's very important to note that it is incredibly difficult to obtain specimens of this material with MULTIPLE inclusions inside like this. We try our best to find pieces with ONE insect, so multiple is a big deal in our experience. This material is always popular on the market, and even though its more of a fossil than a mineral, it's still a cool display piece of this well known material. A good specimen of this well-known material, best viewed under the microscope, but we did photograph the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality.
