Item Description

These are some of the most iconic Amethyst crystals in the world. For years the locality for these pieces was listed as "Las Vigas", but now the more proper locality name is Piedra Parada. This piece is a lovely aesthetic miniature specimen featuring sharp, well-formed, lustrous, VERY gemmy, soft purple colored crystals of Amethyst measuring up to 2.3 cm aesthetically sitting on a thin layer of matrix. The best aspect of the Amethyst crystals is that some of them show an attractive "scepter" habit. For the most part, the piece is in damage free, as I can't really see any major damage anywhere. A very showy and three-dimensional piece from this classic Mexican locality. Priced at $750. This specimen is from the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). Burgess was from Newington, Connecticut and built and impressive species collection. He was also the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he actually discovered.
