Item Description

The Little Giant Basin in San Juan County has produced some very attractive Quartz specimens, including fine skeletal and scepter Amethyst specimens. This piece is an excellent, gemmy, sharp, very lustrous, silver to purple sceptered crystal group that is complete on all sides. There is a slight amount of skeletal windowing on the crystals faces, which is referred so sometimes as "Fenster Quartz" as it is called in German. The piece is nearly undamaged, with only a few minor "rubs" that I can see with the naked eye. The specimen was collected by San Juan collector, Mark Mahlum in the summer of 2008, and is a great example of the type of specimens that can be found in the Little Giant Basin.
