Item Description

An outstanding amethyst/smoky quartz scepter from the 1980s finds at the Fat Jack Mine. A sharp, flattened, lustrous and translucent, pretty purple amethyst crystal is impaled on the smoky quartz stalk. The doubly terminated amethyst sidecar is a striking accent, especially with preferentially coating of iron oxides on the sidecar and main crystal. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only very trivial termination and edge wear. Ex Dave and Emily Stoudt Collection and according to their catalogue, purchased from the estate of Bisbee mineral dealer, Jack Youngblood, in December, 1998. See the 1991 Mineralogical Record article on this locale.
