Item Description

These specimens came out in the early 2000s, and are virtually impossible to find on the market now. The attractive combination of rich purple Amethyst with deep green Epidote is quite appealing. This cabinet size display specimen hosts robust, very sharp, rather lustrous, big pyramidal crystals of Amethyst measuring up to 4.7 cm, which having a sprinkling of attractive dark forest green prismatic Epidote crystals that have formed little "sprays". When backlit, the Amethyst crystals actually show slight internal "phantoms" with a reddish hue due to Hematite inclusion. The upper portion of the specimen is in very good condition, but the lower portion has separation marks where the piece was removed from the pocket. If you missed out on these years ago, this is a great chance to get your hands on a showy example for your collection. Valued at $1,200 retail. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#269 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
