Item Description

This is a unique variety of Quartz from the only occurrence in the world. Ametrine is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color variety that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. The two colors are oriented to cut the famous bicolor gemstones. Here we have a natural, very gemmy, bi-color purple and yellow, etched gem crystal of Ametrine. A very cool and completely unique example of this material that is only found in one place in the world! The entire crystal is essentialy water-clear and with the one-of-a-kind etching pattern, would make a splendid addition to any collection.
