Item Description

Ametrine is the name given to the natural, unique variety of bi-colored Quartz. The combination of purple AMEthyst and yellow citRINE is where the material gets its name. The finest material is found in the Bolivian rain forest at the Anahi Mine. If you slice an Ametrine crystal down the "c" axis, you will find an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles which form on corresponding rhombic faces of the Quartz crystal. The purple sections are aligned with the positive rhombohedral (r) faces, and the yellow sections are lined up with the negative rhombohedral (z) faces. The two colors are oriented from rough crystals in order to cut these interesting bi-color gemstones. This particular gem is a unique, one-of-a-kind, blended, purple/yellow bi-color, "Quantum Emerald Rectangle" cut gemstone. The color is mostly purple, but you can see a tiny bit of yellow in there if you turn the stone at a certain angle. It should be noted that the Anahi Mine is no longer in production of this material and the market has "dried up".
