Item Description

An attractive small cabinet sized specimen of the classic "Byssolite" crystals from the world famous Knappenwand. Beautiful, fine quality, "needle"-like, blue-green colored crystals can be seen all over the display side of the piece. The small white crystals are either Adularia or Calcite. Overall the piece is in great shape, and looks beautiful up close. A good specimen of this well known material from this world-famous locality in the Austrian Alps. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#839). It should be noted that the label states the piece is probably from Knappenwand, but we're confident that it's from the classic locale. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
