Item Description

This piece came labeled as coming from the "Lukmorierschlucht (sp?)" in Grischun (Grisons), Switzerland. It could be from Selva or Cavradi, which are the two most likely / classic localities for blue Anatase from Grischun, but it's hard to say. The crystal measures 2.5 mm and shows a fantastic, textbook, steep pyramidal tetragonal crystal with a rich royal blue color sitting on bladed Albite matrix. No damage that I can see with the naked eye, and the piece would make a superb addition to a thumbnail suite or a collection of Swiss minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9156). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
