Item Description
The Poudrette Quarry at Mont Saint-Hilaire is the source of some of the most interesting and unique minerals in the world. You will also see some of the more unusual pseudomorphs from this locality, and this piece is no exception. This specimen is a wonderful, sharp pseudomorph of Ancylite replacing Apatite, perfectly preserving the original hexagonal prismatic form. Very good quality all around, no real damage, but there is an small area on the back where the piece was partially dissolved, so it left a small "cleft"-like opening. A really cool specimen from this famous locality. This locality is now under new ownership, so collecting has been severely restricted, and specimens will not be as plentiful as they were in the past. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
