Item Description

There are lot of localities for Andalusite, but you don't see a lot of well-formed crystals on the market. Dating back to around 2010, there was a small discovery of some attractive Andalusite specimens that showed euhedral crystals with sharp, lustrous faces and beautiful color. This miniature piece features sharp, well-formed, prismatic, orthorhombic, multi-terminated crystals of pinkish Andalusite free of matrix. The crystals look opaque on the surface, but when they're backlit, they actually show a lovely internal color. It should be noted that Andalusite is somewhat pleochroic, so when the crystals are rotated in the light, you can see a slight color change. The piece is contacted in a few places, so it's more of a refernce specimen, but it still has some very well-formed crystal faces. A good opportunity for a collector to pick up a good quality Andalusite from this well known locality. One rarely sees actual CRYSTALS of Andalusite like this from any locality.
