Item Description

Andalusite is the result of contact metamorphism of argillaceous sediments, also in regionally metamorphosed schists. It is rare in granites and pegmatites, which however afford the largest crystals. This is a striking and rare combination specimen of intergrown, columnar andalusite crystals nearly totally covered with pearlescent muscovite. Ex Harris and Chuck Houser Collections, noted San Diego County specialists. Never seen another for sale!
