Item Description

These Andradites are some of the most easily recognizable of any Garnet specimens around. Their distinctive brownish-green or olive green color and semi metallic luster are a dead giveaway. This specimen is a fine display piece of this famous material from Stanley Butte. It features many sharp, highly lustrous dodecahedra of Andradite with virtually no damage. The largest crystal measures about 9 mm. A great quality specimen of these well known Garnets from Arizona. Valued at $900 in the inventory. From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
